Wooden wicks for candles No 4

The crackle of these wooden wicks is pleasantly reminiscent of the sound of wood burning in a campfire or fireplace.

Wooden candle wicks are completely non-toxic, eco-friendly and sustainable. The sound produced will vary depending on the type of wax used and the amount of fragrance added. Type 4 wicks are thicker and are ideal for harder and slower burning vegetable-based, oily, more wood-intensive soy or beeswax candles.  This type of wick consists of two interlocking parts, the main wick and an additional thin wick to enhance the burning.

Shorten the wick to the desired size before attaching it, as it can be difficult to make a wick that has become stiff in wax look nice. If you find that the wick gives off too much flame or the wax surface melts too quickly, choose a smaller wick size. Conversely, if you find that the flame is smouldering and there is no heat at all, it is worth trying a wider wick. Always do trial tests with different wick sizes to check that the candle burns evenly, matches the shape of your candle and the size of the container. And above all, don't forget to enjoy the process!

 All wicks are available in lengths of 127 mm or 76.2 mm and widths of 9.5, 12.7, 15.9, 19.1 mm as options. Fix the wooden wick with the metal brackets specially designed for them. Metal wick holders sold separately.
