Petromax Cast Iron Pot Quality

Thanks to the excellent properties of cast iron and its special surface structure, heat is efficiently stored and evenly distributed. Petromax cast iron products are factory-preseasoned with food-grade oil, making them ready to use immediately. Cast iron Dutch ovens can be used over an open fire, in stoves, or ovens, and they also perform perfectly on induction cooktops. The raised edge of the lid allows coals or briquettes to be placed directly on top of the Dutch oven.

Every detail of the Petromax cast iron Dutch oven is carefully designed to maximize cooking potential for a wide variety of recipes and methods. The sturdy handle ensures safe lifting, while the thermometer hole allows you to check the temperature without removing the lid. Another useful feature – the inverted lid can also be used as a skillet.

A wide range of accessories is available for Petromax Dutch ovens: lid lifter, transport and storage bag, as well as cleaning and care tools. In addition, special cast iron trivets can be placed inside the pot, allowing you to cook and bake without burning food.

Why Bake Bread in Cast Iron?

For authentic bread baking, we recommend using a cast iron pot (enameled or not) with a lid. Only with a lidded pot can steam build up at the beginning of the baking process, helping the dough to rise beautifully. Cast iron uniquely absorbs and retains heat, and the pot must be sufficiently hot to transfer this heat effectively to the bread.
