Quality of Petromax cast iron pots

Thanks to the wonderful properties of cast iron and its special surface structure, heat is efficiently stored and distributed. Petromax cast iron products are factory-prepared and coated with edible fat, so they can be used immediately. Cast iron pots can be used over a campfire, in ovens or on stoves, and they also work well on induction hobs. The raised edge of the lid allows you to put coals or coals directly on the cast iron pot.

The cast iron can be lifted safely thanks to the sturdy handle and the thermometer hole allows you to check the temperature without lifting the lid. In addition, we also offer a cast-iron grate specifically designed for the cast-iron pot and placed on the bottom of the pot, which allows you to cook and bake your food without burning anything.

Why is bread baked in cast-iron pans?

For real bread, we recommend a cast-iron pot (enamelled or not) and a lid. Only a pot with a lid will allow steam to build up at the start of the bread-making process and help the loaf to rise nicely. Only cast-iron cookware absorbs heat so well, and the pan must be hot enough to transfer that heat to the bread.
