How to make reed diffusers?
If you’ve ever wanted to learn how to make your own reed diffusers but thought it seemed too complicated, read on – we promise, it’s actually very simple.
We always recommend choosing high-quality ingredients, as this will determine not only the appearance of your finished diffuser but also its performance. First, make sure you have all the necessary materials prepared.
You will need:
A diffuser bottle
Reeds for your diffuser
A diffuser base
Fragrance oil
When making reed diffusers, the usual fragrance load is 15–20%. If you use more than 20% fragrance oil, your finished product will no longer comply with home fragrance labelling regulations.
That’s why we recommend starting with 15% fragrance oil in your base.
Step-by-step guide:
For a 100 ml diffuser bottle, we suggest preparing around 90 ml of finished liquid.
In a separate container, mix 85% diffuser base with 15% fragrance oil. Stir gently for a couple of minutes until the two ingredients are fully combined.
Pour the mixture into your chosen bottle.
To use immediately, insert 3–4 reeds. If your diffuser is intended as a gift or for sale, close the bottle with a suitable cap and apply a safety label to the bottom of the container.
Optional: You can also use our liquid dyes, which are soluble and suitable for tinting Diffusol™.
