Crackling Wooden Candle Wicks “Booster”
These wooden booster wicks create a pleasant crackling sound, reminiscent of a campfire or fireplace.
Wooden wicks are completely non-toxic, eco-friendly, and sustainable. The crackling intensity may vary depending on the type of wax used and the fragrance load. No. 4 wicks are thicker and ideal for harder-to-burn, plant-based waxes such as soy or beeswax, which require more fuel and burn more slowly. This wick type consists of two joined parts – the main wick and an additional thin “booster” strip that enhances the burn.
Tips for candle making:
- Trim the wick to the desired length before securing it in wax, as it can be more difficult to trim neatly once the candle has set.
- If the flame is too large and melts the wax too quickly, choose a smaller wick size.
- Conversely, if the flame flickers weakly without proper heat, try a wider wick.
- Always conduct test burns with different wick sizes to ensure an even burn that matches your container size and wax blend. Most importantly – enjoy the process!

Wooden wicks can be secured with metal wick holders. Metal wick holders are sold separately.
